Rugby Council: stay clean, green and safe- say no to intensive pig rearing in Grandborough

The Issue

Sign this petition to let Rugby Borough Council know you oppose planning application R17/0937

A huge, new intensive pig rearing facility is proposed for the Rugby countryside. It will house more than 2,250 pigs in 2 sheds on slatted floors, and maybe more later if it's approved.

· The application doesn’t say how it will meet regulations on animal welfare which include the ability for pigs to manipulate material like straw.

· The plan will adversely affect many neighbouring, long established and successful local rural businesses including rare breed farms, smallholdings, caravan and camping site and riding stables

·  The site is special – it's in a flood zone, it's in a nitrate sensitive area and in a drinking water safeguard zone
