Call on the Australian Government to Mandate Healthy Food Compliance in Child Care

For the first time in a generation, children today will die younger than their parents.

Alarmingly, one-in-four Australian children are overweight or obese, with an increased likelihood of developing Type 2 Diabetes and other chronic diseases while they are still young.

Instilling healthy eating habits in children from a young age is incredibly important. If we want to change these damning statistics we need the Australian Government to wake up, step-up and take action against the obesity crisis that is currently before them.

Child care is funded by the Commonwealth Government and over 60 per cent of children under the age of five are enrolled in child care.

Up to 67 per cent of a child's daily nutritional intake occurs while they are in care. Despite this, the Government has not mandated healthy eating in-line with the Australian Dietary Guidelines in these settings.

By signing this petition, you are calling on the Australian Government to mandate healthy food compliance in regulated care settings including child care.

We owe it to our children.
