What an amazing day yesterday! Great turn out, very well organised and well conducted. Since starting the petition I have discovered more & more reasons why this facility should NOT go ahead: 1. It's cruel - breeding a dog in a cage, training it to obey people in white coats, offer their paw for injections, stay still when in restraints, is beyond abhorrent. They have no life, they don't get played with. They are abused then euthanised. 2. IT DOESN'T WORK! - as Alex Irving detailed in her talk yesterday, the editor in chief of the leading medical journal in the UK has stated that dogs cannot predict human response and there are scientists to back this up. There have been a number of scientists who have spoken anonymously to state that they cannot say on record that this is the case, even though it is true, as it would invalidate their peer reviewed journals. Why do you think the government is so reluctant to have a scientific debate?! To argue on welfare simply isn't enough. We need to have the debate to prove that testing on animals does not work! It's a stunning, quaint little village with one very narrow country road going in and out, definitely not suitable for heavy goods wagons to be driving down, plus the impact it will have on young families with children who wish to play out freely, the increased traffic, the noise of 100's of dogs, the damage to the local wildlife of increased traffic & pollution... the list goes on. Having met the residents yesterday, I feel even more compelled to continue to try and help as they don't deserve this. They were very accommodating and helpful, providing free refreshments of drink and cake for all who attended and lovely fresh water for all the beautiful dogs that came with them. To all who came, a huge thank you for attending and respecting the guidelines to ensure this was a peaceful show of solidarity against the horrors of B&K Universal. Emma
