With all the terrorist attacks now occurring around the world and especially Europe, there is increased presence of armed police at Airports and train stations. However the problem still remains that there is nothing to stop terrorists armed with explosives in their luggage, entering such a public place and causing carnage. Police with guns cannot detect explosives in suitcases and the like, which means those individuals wanting to cause such atrocities, entering populated public places unabated. A simple solution would be to create a government division to train a dedicated team of dogs, that have a sense of smell thousands of times better than ours, to detect the smell of explosive residue on people or luggage in a similar way that they are used to detect drugs. Simple solution to make our lives safer, yet one that is not even considered. A team of dogs on the entrance to airports and wandering the terminals could warn of an impending attack quickly and provide immense security.
