Nature needs you to tell the Prime Minister to Keep the ban on fox hunting #keeptheban #speakupfornature
The Issue
Dear Mr Cameron,
I call upon you to use your position of power and duty, to protect the health of the nation by ensuring the fox hunting ban remains in force. You, yourself as head of the conservative party, should insist that conservation is paramount. If we cannot live alongside a carnivore that is approximately 7 kilograms in weight, the future of our countryside will be in a very sorry state indeed.
Whilst many people see foxes as pest, it is not only these who get caught in the crossfire of this most barbaric act. Other species that are vital to the health of the ecosystem, such as hare and mink are needlessly and ruthlessly slain.
In recent past foxes have been subjected to bad press. However, there are far more incidences of dog attacks than fox attacks. There are circa 250,000 dog attacks per annum, which the UK taxpayer pays for. I put it to you that urban foxes are more prevalent now due to our wasteful nature. It is time to enforce law to reduce the amount of waste we as a people leave.
Our focus should be on conservation, teaching Natural History in schools as part of the curriculum. It is the great Sir David Attenborough who said "In order for someone to protect something, they must first understand it. Then and only then will they be able to love it, and by that act, they will protect it."
Yours sincerely
