The Issue

As the increase in dog theft continues its a sad fact that you may know someone in your local area that has had their best friend stolen. At present all dogs should have a tag and be chipped with the owners details, this in the sight of law is not enough for you to be reunited with your lost friend! If a dog is stolen and then brought in good faith by an unknowing person the dog by law belongs to them and they do not have to give it up!!! It becomes a civil matter that can cost you the earth. Yet if a car is brought in the same circumstances the car gets given back to the owner or insurance company, how can a soulless piece of metal be returned but a loving family member not be. THE LAW MUST BE CHANGED TO RETURN THESE DOGS TO THE RIGHTFUL OWNER. Dogs are not just pets they can be family to those that can not have or do not want kids, they can be best friends, careers and anti depressents, why have laws to have animals identified if it means nothing in the most upsetting circumstances. Can you imagine your dog being stolen only to be found due to a vets check off the chip only to be told the dogs new owner has more rights than you the person that has raised, loved and cared for them, the so called new owner has finacal loss.... So what did you not buy the dog in the first place buy it food, beds, collars, insurance etc etc. Help stop this happening push for a change in law IF A DOG IS STOLEN IT SHOULD BE LAW THAT IT IS RETURNED TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER WHO FROM IT WAS STOLEN.
