Help Stop the Attempt to Ban STAMPED:RACISM, ANTIRACISM AND YOU by Jason Reynolds

Do you believe that one person should have the power to control what your children can read? Do you trust your district and the professionals who work for you and your children?
One parent in the Westwood Learning Community wants to remove the book, STAMPED: RACISM, ANTIRACISM, AND YOU by Jason Reynolds from the approved reading list. The author and book have received numerous accolades and this work of nonfiction has been awarded Best YA Book by Publishers Weekly, Parents Magazine, and Kirkus Reviews, to name just a few.
This parent does not want you to be able to decide for your child because he believes that 8th graders and high school students are not mature enough to handle the content. Is that his decision to make for your child?
His complaint against STAMPED has gone through the review process and has failed at Levels I and II. He is now, upon the advice and encouragement of some members of RRISD Board of Trustees, taking his challenge to Level III.
The RRISD School Board will hold a closed session to address this complaint. If you value excellent works of fiction and nonfiction, believe that banning books is against our First Amendment rights of free speech, know that parents should be able to choose what their children read, and appreciate the professionalism, dedication, and knowledge of your children's teachers, then please sign.
Let RRISD Board of Trustees know that ONE person from ONE RRISD Learning Community should not be entrusted with the power to remove any approved reading material. Let them know that you can decide for yourself and your children and don't need a parent with his own agenda making decisions for you and your family.
