Royal London to withdraw its application to demolish 20th Century House in Soho Square.
The Issue
Twentieth Century House is a 1930's building in the South East corner of Soho Square. The owner applied on 29 May 2019 to demolish the building and re-develop the site. The building is in the conservation area but is unlisted. It has deep historical connections with the film industry based in Soho. The replacement building is a standard modern office building which will detract from one of London's most well-loved and historical squares. We ask Royal London to reconsider and work with the film industry and the local residents to find a use for the existing building which will avoid demolition. The application can be seen at 19/04164/FULL on Westminster City Council's planning website.
