In these terrifying and uncertain times, the Government needs to be doing more to protect pregnant women! During the first national lockdown pregnant women were classed as clinically vulnerable and told to shield at home to keep them safe, so why is this not the case now when Covid cases are increasing again at an alarming rate?

The latest publication from gov.uk categorises pregnant women as clinically vulnerable and advises them to work from home where necessary or unless their place of employment can completely guarantee their safety. In certain jobs such as teachers and NHS staff, this is impossible when they are coming into contact with hundreds and in some cases thousands (schools) of people every single day. How can any employer in this situation be able to guarantee a pregnant woman’s safety? The simple answer is they can’t and therefore it isn’t safe for them be in that environment after 28 weeks of pregnancy

The research into the effects of Covid 19 states that pregnant women may have greater effects from Covid 19 after 28 weeks so why are the government not doing more to protect pregnant women? Please sign this petition today to show your support for pregnant women during the current Covid 19 pandemic and to ensure the safety of both them and their unborn children.
