Vets and councils to chip scan all pets on every visit!

In April 2016 my cat Gimli went missing. Despite poster and social media campaigns he has never been spotted.
I am one of many owners who have lost a loved member of their family and strongly believe that if all vets and councils were to chip scan all pets that are presented to a vet, of found to be deceased, then more families would be reunited with their lost pets.
After visiting my own vets on a number of occasions it was clear that scanning seems only to be carried out when the chip was input. I have since registered other pets who have not been routinely scanned during registration.
This is a great failing in the manner with which the chip could be used to reunite pets who have been lost or taken.
Please join me in making chip scanning of all pets mandatory at all vet clinics as well as by all council's finding deceased pets.
