Hi everyone, it’s Teo. When I started this petition I never imagined it would get even 50 signatures, let alone 300,000 in the same week! I want to thank each and every person who has signed this petition and shared it on Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, Reddit, and any other form of social media for all your help - none of this could have happened without each and every one of you.

I haven’t been able to add Mona as an admin on the petition yet since I didn’t make my profile an organization, but we’ve been talking online to get her input on things and to make sure her story is being told as accurately and respectfully as possible. Here’s a message from her:

“Thanks for the support everyone! I never thought I’d have so many supporters backing me up, it’s really helping me through all of this <3”

Unfortunately, we still have a lot of work to do. As of today, Cpl. Lacey Browning has still not been fired or charged with assault. But the good news is, Mona’s case is getting attention! Mona now has over 300,000 of us fighting for her, there’s an article on WeAreResonate.com about the petition, and we can still make change happen by putting pressure on changemakers and keeping the conversation going. Keep sharing and posting about the injustices that she and so many others are still facing!

To contact the Kelowna RCMP, you can call their non-emergency line at (250) 762-3300 or email them at E_Kelowna_General_Enquiries@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. Make sure to call and write to your local police departments as well to demand changes in the way mental health checks are done near you.

I’d also like to ask that you please *DO NOT* donate to Change.org, not even for this petition. The money only goes toward getting a few more signatures, not toward Mona’s recovery, and we’ve gotten plenty of signatures with no donations. Mona has requested that anyone who wishes to make a donation put their money towards Black Lives Matter or any other organizations or charities helping people in need.
