I am an animal lover, and my personal connection with animals has led me to write this petition. Every day, animal sitters get hired via Rover, yet not all of them have undergone proper documentation checks. Our pets are family, and they deserve only the best care from legitimate, properly vetted sitters.

There have been many reports that have gone unanswered and many blatantly ignored. Horror stories abound of situations where unverified sitters mishandled pets, leading to accidents, injuries, and sadly death (Jessic kippen most recently). The risks are clear, and the number of pets affected can only be imagined. So, in the interest of safe, responsible pet caregiving, we must demand that Rover provide and enforce a thorough and reliable system for verifying all animal sitters' certifications and experience before they are allowed to offer services through the app.
