ROUND TWO: Pause the Lease Decision, Protect Public Space in Egerton Park

The Issue

On May 2, 2025, we, Lucy Cooley, Christine Catt, and Mandi Lyons, directors of Come As You Are CIC, thank our 197 supporters for making Rother District Council (RDC) listen.

We demanded openness for the Elizabethan Pavilion lease decision, and you secured a partial victory:

RDC released the Cabinet report (Ref: CB250512) and opened the May 12, 2025, meeting to the public.

But the report misrepresents The Bexhill Nest, our Applicant B proposal, and omits key details. We ask RDC to pause the decision, 10 days away, and give us answers to ensure transparency and a fair understanding of our inclusive hub before favoring Applicant A.

The Bexhill Nest offers:

•  Free, neuroaffirming space for neurodivergent families (1,200+ SEND children in Rother)

•  Sensory-safe indoor areas, secure sensory garden, accessible toilets

•  Peer-led support, open weekends/holidays, no booking needed

•  To be funded by an identified pool of grants up to 525,500, no cost to RDC

•  Sustainable features (low-energy lighting), aligning with RDC Council Plan 2025-2029

Report concerns:

•  Misrepresents our operational status, financial offer, and 197 supporters

•  Omits our shared-use hub model and equality duty alignment

•  Lacked initial public notice for exempt status

•  Unanswered EOI requests limited engagement

You made RDC listen, but they must pause and answer. Join 197 supporters to:
