Anthony Rota, Liberal MP for the riding of Nipissing—Timiskaming, invited a former Nazi SS member and war criminal into the Canadian House of Commons.

Further, he introduced the man as a hero, despite the fact he was involved in a Nazi-controlled battalion responsible for the slaughter of innocent people.

While Mr. Rota has apologized for the "mistake," I believe this does not go far enough. Mr. Rota must go a step farther, and resign from his position.

At a time when anti-Semitism is rampant, both offline and online, it is disrespectful and hurtful to celebrate a man that formerly took orders from Adolph Hitler.

An apology is simply not enough this time.

Anthony Rota must resign immediately.
