Develop the Skillet right- Demand Council Oversight
The Issue
REDEVELOPMENT OF
ROSWELL PLAZA ("SOUTHERN SKILLET")
1023 ALPHARETTA ST.
As Roswell taxpayers who own the Skillet property, we want to ensure our city's best interests and key factors* affecting the redevelopment of this property are given due consideration. The Roswell Downtown Development Authority is a separate entity. The Mayor and City Council, however, answer directly to the city's taxpayers and residents. As such, we believe our duly elected officials should oversee the Downtown Development Authority's developer selection process. We support the following Conditional Use provision:
The Roswell Mayor and City Council will maintain fiscal responsibility for and oversight of the DDA's developer selection process for the Southern Skillet redevelopment by approving key milestones* throughout the process.
We urge the Roswell Mayor and City Council to vote FOR this Conditional Use provision.
*Key milestones include:
- the Request for developer's Qualifications (RFQ)
- the Request for developer's Proposal (RFP)
- RFP finalists
- the final site plan
**Key factors include:
- taxpayers' interests and long term benefit to Roswell
- density (apartments/acre)
- number of floors, mass, scale, setbacks, stepped-back upper floors, etc...that will affect the area character of the Roswell Historic District.
