Friends, family and strangers, we students ask you for help. We have been set back with a decision, that is affecting people from every corner of this fine world. 

Rose Bruford College and Sodexo Living have partnered up and created our beautifully brand new student accommodation. We pay £165 per week and rightfully, we should be allowed to have guests to stay over. Some of us students come from many miles away to study at Rose Bruford. I travelled for 7 hours by car and some of us just don't have the money to go home, never mind thinking about hotels. 

We aren't allowed guests because the decision has been made on the impression that this is a 'fire hazard' because apparently it's more likely that a fire will start past 11pm... So, i have devised an idea which I have devised an idea which I think would put us students at ease knowing our friends, family, girlfriends, boyfriends etc can come down but also, you can feel happier about it in a safety aspect. 

My idea is: 

Create a limit of people per evening. So, say 10-15 people an evening (it's not a lot but it's a big difference to us) a week, that is between 70 and 105 people that can stay in our accommodation. 

Create a notice period. Make it compulsory to book in advance, like one week, so security can prepare for the evening ahead and they will know what safety measures are needed i.e proof of person, any physical restrictions and maybe a deposit of something like identification or bank card.

Create a limit of staying. Most universities in this country have a 3 day policy, which is where someone can stay 2 nights, 3 days. So, ideally, that is a weekend.   

The people signing my petition today are representatives of frustration by this rule because of how much this could really affect peoples relationships, with family and friends. We are students who just want to see our loved ones every now and then, we aren't wanting to bring some random person in off the high street because this means too much to us, to just go blow it on a silly thing like that.

I implore you to see this from our point of view and we really really want you to understand.
