AS OWNER OF RACEHORSE 'RED CADEAUX' WE DEMAND YOU RETIRE THIS INTERNATIONALLY LOVED HORSE TO PROTECT HIS SAFETY, HEALTH AND WELFARE.
The issue
Red Cadeaux is one of the world's most popular racehorses who is reported to be having his 47th start in the Hong Kong Vase on Sunday 14th Decmber 2014. As a globetrotting racehorse, he is adored by the Australian public for his amazing efforts in the Melbourne Cup in which he has started 4 times, and placed 3 times. He has won $7 - $8 million dollars and is nearly 9 years old, an age that makes him highly vulnerable to catastrophic limb injury. Many racehorses who suffer catastrophic limb injuries don't have to show lameness to be biomechanically compromised. They can be masters at compensating for biomechanical dysfunction. Many horses such as Verema who suffered a catastrophic limb injury in the 2013 Melbourne Cup perform extremely well prior to breaking down in their very next race. e.g.Verema.had won her two previous starts prior to breaking her limb. Good feet are the foundations of soundness for the horse but Red Cadeaux has had his feet damaged by shoeing, which has affected the development, balance and function of his feet. Red Cadeaux must be retired now because continuing to race this wonderful horse is putting him at an unacceptably high risk to his health, welfare and safety. MR RONALD ARCULLI YOU ARE HIS OWNER - WE THE PUBLIC DEMAND THAT YOU RETIRE RED CADEAUX.
