We the citizens of Douglas County are against the approval of the 2021 budget.  The total amount for the 2021 budget is $98.7 million, about $500,000 more than the 2020 budget.  The probate judge budget was not properly discussed by all commissioners and some commissioners were not given a voice to even suggest changes.  The estimate for vital records at $20,000 is a low estimate.  The budget for the probate judge is $836,396 and also a $30,000 supplement.  The salary for the probate judge needs to be looked at more.  Hal Hamrick received a budget of $425,100 this year for probate court.
