My name is Albert Jimenez. I'm doing this petition to request a street in the Bronx, NY with Romeo Santos' name, in honor to his music career and the great contributions to the Latin community. Born and raised in the Bronx Mr. Santos has positively changed music. Romeo Santos has fought for his dreams beginning with “Los Tinellers” to becoming the number one selling bachata group “Aventura” and now is one of the most influential Bachata star in the world. People used to say the bachata they were making wasn’t bachata, one because they were born and raised in the Bronx, even though they are all Dominicans, two they spoke differently, with that Spanglish style and they brought that to their music along with fusing bachata with other genres and lastly, the way they dressed. Old school bachata fans weren’t feeling these four modern bachateros! Before the “ Obsesión “ hit, “Cuando Volverás “ was a Spanglish bachata and people said that was bubble gum, but little by little it was getting to the young folks, why? Because through these four kids, they felt represented, by the way they spoke and dressed. The old school bachateros had a different way to talk and dress! Later on, the massive hit “ Obsesión “ came and the rest is history. Aventura did everything musically speaking, in 2007 selling out Madison Square Garden for the first time and throughout the years selling out other important arenas around the world, for example, Viña del Mar in 2011 located in Chile! That was epic! In 2011 Aventura broke up and Romeo Santos went as a solo artist and remained the king of bachata by selling out three nights at the Madison Square Garden in February 2012 with his first solo album "Formula Volume 1." In 2014, he sold out  Yankees Stadium two nights in a row with his second solo album " Formula Volume 2 " and up to this date, Mr. Santos Dominates the charts like the king that he is. Romeo Santos is a true role model because when you do things from the heart, when you love what you do, and you believe in yourself, you don’t care about those negative comments, those negative comments become a motivation for you and that’s exactly what my idol did, proved them wrong. A kid from the Bronx and look at him now, conquered the world with his bachata. Romeo Santos not only represents Dominicans but the whole Latino community, being a true pillar. We are so proud of him and we as fans let him know at all times by supporting him. To me personally, Anthony “ Romeo “ Santos means a lot because believe it or not, I see him as a father figure, and many criticize me for that and labeling with names but I'm just a huge fan that love and respect his idol. My dream is to be an artist as well just like him ever since I was a kid, I look up to him and I still am very proudly. Romeo Santos is a symbol of hope that no matter where you coming from or what language you’re speaking, you can go far in life. The evolution of him as a singer and songwriter is amazing, always challenging himself with each project he’s working on, to do better and better and give us the best music.This is the least thing I can do for him besides supporting him with his music and going to his concerts. Romeo deserves this and many more blessings. He has earned it since day one. Romeo having a street with his name in the Bronx will mean a lot to him because he will be humble about it and he is going to appreciate it a lot, that’s his hometown. We don't have to wait for an artist to pass away to honor him/her, we can do it while they are alive so they can see we care and love them.This can be a positive message for many of us that anything can be possible. Romeo Santos Siempre va ser Nuestro Orgullo Latino and us Romeistas y Aventureros god’s willing are going to make this beautiful act happen. I will take responsibility to forward this to many of my friends because they know how much Romeo Santos means to me, and also to the rest of his fans. He’s my inspiration and forever my favorite person! I know from the bottom of my heart that we are going to get the votes that are needed so this can become a reality.
