Roll back new pick-up rules at KIA Bengaluru

Roll back new pick-up rules at KIA Bengaluru
The Issue
The recent changes in the pick-up rules at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru have brought about significant inconvenience and unnecessary struggles for countless travelers. My recent experience left me deeply concerned, especially considering how this impacts seniors, individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, and families burdened with heavy luggage. Apart from select Aggregator cabs, All other taxis and non-private vehicles are now relegated to P4 parking at Terminal 1, which is a daunting distance for anyone to cover, especially after a long flight.
Previously, the pick-up point was only about a hundred meters away from the arrival gates, which was reasonable and manageable. However, with the new policies in place, passengers now have to endure a walk of nearly a kilometer or spend up to 20 minutes reaching their vehicle. This decision disregards the comfort and well-being of passengers and poses significant challenges for those who are not in a position to walk such distances easily. It's disheartening to witness elderly travelers struggling with their baggage, children barely managing the long walk, and pregnant women exerting more energy than necessary after a tiresome journey.
There is an urgent need to revisit these rules and bring back the previous pick-up point that ensures accessibility and convenience for all passengers. A practical solution that respects the diverse needs of travelers can and should be implemented. We urge the authorities at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, to consider reopening the previous pick-up areas, which were positioned closer to the arrivals and genuinely catered to the comfort of all individuals using the airport.
Airports should be places that prioritize passenger convenience and ease of travel, not put them in uncomfortable situations. Optimizing the pick-up arrangements not only helps those who face mobility challenges but also enhances the overall airport experience for every traveler.
