Hello!

We’re issuing a plea, please, for volunteer supporters to join us at whatever times and for however long you can manage through the day on Thursday 5th May at the 4 Beckton Polling Stations. It’s really not so daunting. You’d be keeping us company, giving a cheery, welcoming greeting and smile, wearing a Green badge or rosette but not needing or even being permitted to campaign verbally or with leaflets. It’s also to help us to monitor that everyone else present is operating within the rules and to report it if anything is amiss. Please let us know if you can on savenewhamcityfarm@gmail.com.

As you all know, the handling of the closure of Newham City Farm, the reason you have all signed this petition, has been the catalyst for Sol, Karen and I standing as Green candidates in the local Council elections on Thursday 5th May. Our SNCF campaign over the last few months has exposed and highlighted our Labour Council poor handling of many other issues impacting on Beckton, Custom House and Newham residents.

We are seriously challenging Labour to the point that they have apparently called those remaining of their 60 Councillors to focus an intense campaign just in Beckton over the next 2 nights, so have your response ready, whether it is to keep them talking on the doorstep and delay them or giving them a piece of your mind about their neglect of community resources and infrastructure.

Please strongly consider giving your 3 votes for Councillors to the 3 Beckton Green candidates who have already shown their hard work and commitment to representing the community’s interests.

Please consider giving your 2 Mayoral votes to Rob Callender (Green) and Mehmood Mirza (Independent).

Thank you very much.

Best wishes,

Alison
