There needs to be tougher penalties to protect animals from people who commit acts of cruelty and mistreatment. There has been instances of stolen dogs in my area being used for dog fighting which is horrendous in itself but the mouths of these dogs are being drilled and metal spikes are being inserted for maximum damage. There are many stories of animal deaths from neglect and cruelty from owners some are repetitive abusers. Why are they allowed to continue to own animals, continue their abuse and commit acts of cruelty? The law must take a stand and update penalties as a deterrent, a small fine and a smack on the wrist simply is not good enough. As an animal lover I am very disturbed by some of the things I have heard and photo's I have seen recently. As animal lover's we care about the protection of all animals SO PLEASE TOUGHER PENALTIES INCLUDING NO ANIMALS ALLOWED TO BE OWNED OR KEPT BY REPETITIVE ABUSERS.
