Suspend Bill Belichick from the Super Bowl

The Issue

The Patriots, who have previously been punished for illegally filming opposing teams, may have illegally doctored footballs before or during their AFC Championship game against the Colts. According to USA TODAY:

"Preliminary findings of the league's probe into the Patriots, according to a report late Tuesday by ESPN's Chris Mortensen, revealed 11 footballs were under-inflated by 2 pounds per square inch in the AFC Championship Game.

On a wet night at Gillette Stadium, as it was for New England's over-inflated blowout of the Indianapolis Colts, an under-inflated football could be a lot easier to grip and throw"

Let's call this what it is: Intentional, planned cheating during one of football's biggest game.

If Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL are serious about the integrity of the game, they'll take a serious stand against cheating, and that means suspending Bill Belichick for the Super Bowl.

It's only fitting that the punishment happens in the same playoffs as the rule-breaking, and a delay would only incentivize future cheating during big games.

Commissioner Goodell has shown in the past that he can be swayed by public pressure. If enough of us speak out this week, we can force the debate and take a real stand against cheating.
