Thanks to “CBC The Current” for the great article and inviting me to speak on air to raise awareness over the fight for fair wages for NFL cheerleaders.
You can check out the article and listen to the interview here: http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/episode/2014/09/19/cheerleaders-minimum-wage/
In just 30 days we’ve increased our signature petition base by 5,000 (138K)!
Kudos to everyone for spreading the word, as NFL Cheerleaders need our collective voice as they are stuck between a rock and a hard spot; born entertainers that love their job, working hard both on/off the field supporting their teams and communities but with little negotiation power for fair wages.
Would love to hear from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader’s Director, Kelli Finglass, why she and the $6 Billion Dollar, Tax-Exempt NFL, who supposedly supports women by wearing/selling pink during October, can justify paying “America’s Sweethearts” minimum wage when NFL players receive compensation (bonuses) of $5,000 per week, for each week they are NOT arrested ($360,000/year) while mascots can make as much as $65,000; if this isn’t the definition of exploitation, what is?
Thank you again for your support and I look forward to continuing to turn the heat up! And with your help, change in NFL Cheerleading pay is in the air, can you feel it?
Cheers,
Diane
