Recently, the U.S Supreme Court overturned the constitutional right to an abortion, reversing Roe v. Wade, the court's five-decade-old decision that guaranteed the right to obtain an abortion, thus leaving the question of abortion's legality to the states.

     The implications of this decision mean that not only will there be an increase in illegal abortions, but disabled pregnant people-especially queer and transgender, poor, BIPOC, and sick disabled people-are placed at an increased risk of death during childbirth due to not being able to have access to in-vitro fertilization (one of the numerous consequences of Roe being overturned). This also means that abused, molested, or even raped women will be forced to keep the baby or put it up in an adoption system that often repudiates and places these children in similar circumstances.

     In hindsight, the American justice system is built on injustice. We, as people, need to do better for the greater good of American citizens. The overturn of Roe v. Wade stems from the lack of diversity both in race and gender in government (this continues to be brought to light as the underrepresented communities continuously suffer). For instance, only three women are serving on the Supreme Court. Collectively, women's voices are not being heard, as decisions pertaining to their rights are made by a mostly male majority. Together we are stronger and can collectively use our voices as a unified generation to bring light to the dangers of this decision made by the Supreme Court.
