Upgrade and review public transport in Rockhampton - improve accessibility from Gracemere+

The issue

After reading the issues surrounding a proposed high school for Gracemere I became really bothered by the lack of “out of the box thinking”. While I support the idea of a school in Gracemere the battle seems far from over; why not in go around this and fix a few more problems while we’re at it by upgrading our current public transport in the region?

This would not only give our region a great boost of jobs (security, maintenance, operators etc.) but greatly reduce the danger Gracemere students face daily.

Standing in isles on fast traveling buses is simply not good enough, it rattles me to see parents saying they have been seeking changes for over two years with zero progress.

Ideally, a passenger train from Gracemere to Rockhampton could potentially utilize the existing infrastructure of train lines and train stations through the region.

If this was to go ahead we would expect to see less congestion on the highway at peak hours, and allow residents who can not drive to access Rockhampton with little or no hassle.

In the very least a review of our bus time tables, stops and the routes is in order.

I believe it’s well overdue, over looked and a great alternative to be seriously considered and explored. Let’s get proactive until the day the state approves a high school in Gracemere.

Let’s get locomotive!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to get further involved on this proposal, or have other matters you’d like to get an alternative view on.

Thank you,
