On Monday, the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, as well as Rockdale County Animal Control, were notified by COUNTLESS residents of our community about an extreme case of animal abuse at the hands of an individual by the name of CHADWICK LEE RHOADS. Animal Control told concerned residents they "were not responding to calls of that nature at this time, due to Covid-19" and NEVER PERFORMED THEIR LEGAL OBLIGATION TO RESCUE THIS ANIMAL. Officers of the Rockdale County Sheriffs Office arrived to the scene, and witnessed first hand the deplorable condition this animal was suffering in. They claimed it was not their area of jurisdiction, and to call Animal Control, despite residents explaining to them that Rockdale County Animal Control was not "handling cases." Four hours later this puppy died in the same cage it probably spent most of its life, which had been WIRED SHUT, most likely from exposure, dehydration, and starvation, covered in his own excrement, without any dignity or love. Now a CRIME SCENE, officers returned to the property and saw the animal dead in the same deplorable conditions THEY HAD ALLOWED IT TO BE LEFT IN. The officer never even left his patrol car to investigate further, despite being notified that two more animals were on the property. This "officer" was made aware of the individual responsible for the neglect and abuse, yet NO CHARGES WERE FILED AGAINST CHAD RHOADS. The officer then left the scene LEAVING THE ANIMAL BEHIND, offering no solution on how or when the animal could be laid to rest. Luckily, concerned neighbors took matters into their own hands, cut the wires, and gave this innocent puppy a proper burial. This blatant disregard for animal welfare will not be tolerated by the residents of Conyers, GA, and we need your help to seek justice! CHAD RHOADS SHOULD NOT BE A FREE MAN, ANIMAL CRUELTY IS A FEDERAL OFFENSE! HELP US HOLD SHERIFF ERIC LEVETT AND THE ROCKDALE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR BLATANT DISREGARD FOR ANIMAL WELFARE!
