They are long overdue for this sort of recognition. The Monkees may have been a "manufactured image" but their music had transended through the years. Teenagers and adults alike can listen to their music, watch their shows and enjoy it all on the same level. Their form of entertainment can be passed down through generations. They proved to all that they could break out of the mold that they were created from and perform better than what they were billed as. They were the alternative to the Beatles but they even broke that barrier. The Beatles themselves appreciated and recognized their talent. The Beatles have had their recognition for their accoplishments in the musical world, now it is the Monkees' turn. That recognition for the Monkess is long over due. Please consider this petition as proof that it is what the people want and what the Monkees deserve.
