Why this petition matters

Started by Nope Nope

Rochester Community schools has taken away attendance incentives that allowed students to skip exams if they had not missed a certain amount of school and had a high grade. This incentive kept students in school and not skipping when ever they felt like it, it aslo allowed for students that are bad stress takers or to stressed to relax. In light of the recent Covid 19 outbreak the school district has taken away this incentive. This angers students as many of them were banking on this incentive. Most students have good grades and happily skipped exams. So you can see how this sudden increase in stress becomes bad for students mental health and angers them

What the district can do instead is:

Increase the number of days the attendance incentive covers from 3 to 5. This will allow students to miss school freely without to much backlash.

Or

Make sick days with doctor's note dont count against the incentive

Or

If worse comes to worse. Just shut down the school once the virus makes it's way here.

Or

Anything else the higher ups believe will help excluding removing the incentive

Please if you are reading this, rcs district official, re instate the incentive with those changes. But alot of students including me are banking on that time to be used for other uses, (sat prep, ap exams, etc)
