Ceasing and Reforming Robertson County's Unchecked Growth.

Ceasing and Reforming Robertson County's Unchecked Growth.

We're experiencing tremendous growth in Robertson County due in part to the growth from Nashville and Clarksville. In doing so, we've overextended ourselves in sound and reliable infrastructure and are continuing to pack huge high density subdivisions into areas where it simply isn't feasible, responsible or environmentally safe. This is no more evident than in municipalities and rural communities that are being bulldozed with the same density and growth that larger cities with better and more appropriate infrastructure are experiencing.
We've failed in adhering to the 2040 Growth Plan and it's Growth Policies and our Planning and Zoning office has allowed and supported growth in areas that does not have the appropriate infrastructure, capabilities or community support. Anytime a 750 house subdivision in a rural community with no nearby subdivisions of that size in the area is okayed and there was never even a traffic study completed is a sign that we're rubber stamping huge residential developments.
It's time for the voices of Robertson Countians to be heard. If Robertson County doesn't become a densely housed suburb of Nashville, then we need reform and we need it now. This is a battle for the future of our rural landscape, agrarian scenery and way of life that often brings folks to call Robertson County home. Sound Planning and Zoning is built around community input. That was stated in the 2040 Growth Plan and by those that engineered it. It's time for the whole of our communities to voice our concerns and demand a change in our development trajectory.
This is a problem we're all facing across Robertson County and it's going to take all of us to come together and move as one. This isn't a battle against development and growth, this is a battle for responsible growth.
