The issue

I write this plea on behalf of the taxpayers, the silenced community and lovers of our great City. Consecutive State Gov'ts and their agents- as custodians and lobbyists for the people- appear to have abandoned Codes of Ethics and Conduct by neglecting to work transparently promoting public benefit over private interest. Crown's latest proposed plan For the VIP Casino Hotel Resort with many added luxury apts. has morphed into a massive dominating complex that dwarfs our iconic Harbourscape, diminishes designated public domain, disregards already excessive specifications in size, amenity and integrity and compromises our Aussie beliefs, traditions and principles. The people have been largely ignored. Business, developers and elitism are winners with projected possible great loss to taxpayers. Our beautiful unique prime public land has been 'sold out' for questionable results, purpose and expediency. Urgent! There is very little time before the PAC Committee will determine Crown's application to amend Mod 8, an already generous modification. No to 100 metres more height! No to more mass mainly for luxury apts and added gaming tables! Without this size blow out Barangaroo will be a precinct of excellent architecture with an unequalled financial and commercial centre, superb tourism amenity, stunning parklands, public domain, walkways, cultural centres, VIP Casino Hotel Resort, cafes, restaurants, shops, housing. Barangaroo will be the envy of the world. The people implore the PAC Committee to scale back and refuse Crown's flawed unacceptable proposal--must get this right! This critical decision affects the shape, integrity and character of Sydney for the future. We are NOT Dubai, or Singapore, or Shanghai! Sydney will be a beacon as the 'Noble Global City'! That's who we are. Cecile Hunt
