Jen Fox started this petition to Moss Development Robert Moss

The Joseph Burnett/Garfield family house is a gem of Southborough, Massachusetts. Two years ago when Ms. Garfield, who took her best care of the property, died, her children sold it to someone who could renovate it and take care of it. But now this current owner decided he no longer can refurbish the house. The new buyer is Mr. Robert Moss, who plans on demolishing the historic landmark to build English cottages for him and a couple of friends. By demolishing the gorgeous Burnett house, Southborough would lose its old and historic essence that kept our people here for generations. The elegant stone mansion features 11 bedrooms, an elaborate ballroom, a billiards room, servants' quarters and more. The original builder, Joseph Burnett, was an amazing and historically significant man. Not only were he and his family the founders of two prestigious private schools in Southborough- St. Marks and Fay schools- but he was the creator of the delicious and well-appreciated spice, vanilla extract, and the famous Deerfoot Farms Company. This home was also the start of the Boston terrier dog breed, and the small stone shop on the edge of the property was the start of St. Marks church. Please help us to keep this ancient, 165-year-old beauty alive!

Please keep in mind that we are not accepting donations through this website: any donations go to change.org, not our cause.
