Much like every other senior, news about commencement being cancelled is heartbreaking. I understand the reasoning and the precautions that need to be taken. I appreciate the possible virtual ceremony and the mailing of honors medals as well. I wonder if there is a possible way to instead postpone the ceremony and still allow the senior class to walk for commencement. I understand a date cannot be given right now, but I feel we have worked hard to earn our own ceremony instead of taking part in one with the class of 2021. I also do not think a virtual ceremony will be anything in comparison to an actual graduation ceremony. 

I speak for numerous members of the senior class when I say that we really hope to wrap up our senior year at Robert Morris after four years of hard work in our own separate ceremony as the current circumstances are unpredictable and we should not be losing the most important event of our time here at RMU because of it. I really hope you and other staff consider allowing us to have our commencement at a later date if we choose to do so. All we need is to be told we will still have the ceremony, even if it is at a much later date than it was intended.

Please consider my proposal and allow the class of 2020 to get what we have earned.
