OPPOSE THE 'DEVELOPERS CHARTER'

OPPOSE THE 'DEVELOPERS CHARTER'

The Issue

We the undersigned oppose the Government's proposed changes to planning laws that threatens to remove many existing planning restrictions and protections and impose excessive housing targets onto Havering.

Existing Mayoral housing targets are already leading to the over-development of the borough by densifying housing, largely through heights and a proliferation of apartment blocks, without the necessary monies to help pay for vital services e.g. doctors, dentists, public transport etc.

The latest Government plans would likely increase those targets even further and the quality of new homes will likely fall as will the number of truly affordable homes. We don't want to become as urbanised as an inner-London borough with existing and new residents competing to use shrinking services. We urge the Government not to make changes that threaten our quality of life.
