Get Animal Planet to Teach about Animals Again

Get Animal Planet to Teach about Animals Again
The Issue
When I was a child, my favorite hobby was escaping the stress of reality by learning about the different wildlife around the world. Everything was interesting to me but the one thing I loved was Animal Planet. At the same time every day The Jeff Corwin Experience would be on, followed by the Most Extreme countdown. It wouldn't matter if the shows were repeats because it only made the learning that more pleasurable. This love for watching animals made me realize my calling was to actually work with the wildlife that I love.
As the years went by, Animal Planet changed. Jeff Corwin was gone and the Most Extreme was not on the air anymore. There were more reports of abandoned pets or abused animals on the news. Generations were losing their love for the environment and I had forgotten how much I loved animals.
Animal Planet went from teaching children and adults about megafauna, the big animals, to having shows about saving pit bulls, fishing, or arresting people who abused hunting laws. What happened to the facts? If I wanted to watch a show to learn about how people lived, I would watch the Travel channel or TLC.
With this change in Animal Planet, younger generations don't care about the environment anymore. So many people don't believe that animals are in danger and even my father doesn't believe that climate change is a thing. Our world is currently experiencing a mass extinction with more than 500 species that we don't even know about being extinct within the last 200 years.
Educating younger generations on these large problems is important for the future of our planet. Animal Planet can be a big part in this by changing their slogan and bringing back shows that teach about the importance of the environment and go into how to help. There's no need for Animal Planet to get into sensitive issues such as SeaWorld, but the channel can still show more environment. This can be done by partnering with Discovery Channel and recruiting several different scientists and celebrities to host shows or narrate documentaries about the different parts of environmental sciences.
