Raincliffe Woods is on the out-skirts of Scarborough and it not only provides us with protection from dangerous emissions and provides us with OXYGEN, (which we only need to breath). The woods also protect us from flooding, whilst also protecting farmland from winds. The Raincliffe Woods Community Enterprise claimed to be initiating this project as a means to providing jobs and money for local people, however this has not happened. There is now a new road being constructed through the middle of the woods with no signs of any 'broadleaf' trees being planted where trees have been felled.
In my opinion the woods provides a beautiful backdrop to our town and also provides a perfect escape for the people of Scarborough in the summer when our town centre and beaches become over crowed by tourists. Which brings in enough money for our town without destroying our greatest heritage and leaving us with a massive wasteland to surround our town instead.
Let's make Scarborough Borough Council listen and admit the mistake they have made by simply reversing the decision they made to hand over their responsibilities to the 'Raincliffe Woods Community Enterprise'. Everything was working fine and this change didn't need to happen, let's make changes before the damage done by this small committee is completely irreversible.
