Our goal with this petition is to call on the Robbinsville, NJ Township Council to remove the Thin Blue Line/Blue Lives Matter flag that's currently flying in front of our township police department and municipal courthouse. 

Make no mistake about it: We support our local police.

But the truth is that this flag, which was originated as a symbol of general police support, now means something quite different. Today, it is a controversial and divisive symbol opposing the Black Lives Matter movement, and one that has no place in our municipal complex.

Its presence on Robbinsville town property conveys a message that we stand in opposition to the fight against systemic racism. It is political. It is divisive. And it must be taken down.

These flags and other thin blue line symbols have been removed from across New Jersey in towns like Woodbridge and Flemington, and across​ the​ country, because of local outcry. Blue Lives Matter laws and symbols have been condemned as racist and anti-Black by organizations such as the NAACP​, ACLU​, Color of Change, and more. It's time for Robbinsville to commit itself to diversity, inclusion, antiracism, and do the same.
