According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife Highway 82 is a high risk road for wildlife vehicle collisions. There are natural migration corridors that intersect the highway along various places on 82. In order to improve safety, maintain traffic flow and conserve species diversity, several wildlife overpass structures should be installed to link habitats and encourage wildlife to avoid roadways which would reduce the instances of collisions. As the population continues to grow, we need to accommodate wildlife and improve the safety of our high speed commuter highway. Senseless deaths and injury to humans and wildlife can be remedied with wildlife corridors. The recent project in Kremmling Colorado has reduced wildlife vehicle collisions by 80%. The Roaring Fork valley is in elk summer range so every season shift they and other animals move from the valley base to higher elevations. In order to provide a safe passage to wildlife and humans, overpasses are an essential future development project.
