Road Safety Petition – In Memory of Timmy the Cat
The Issue
🕊️ Road Safety Petition – In Memory of Timmy 🕊️
Our beloved cat Timmy was sadly killed by a speeding car outside our home on Teesdale Road, Dartford , Kent.He was a loving, friendly and gentle boy who brought so much joy to our family, and our home feels empty without him.
While UK law does not currently require drivers to report collisions involving cats under the Road Traffic Act 1988, speeding and careless driving in residential areas remain serious offences. Too many drivers treat quiet residential streets like main roads, putting families, children and pets at risk.
This heartbreaking incident has highlighted the urgent need for improved road safety measures in our area. Residential roads should be safe places for the community, not areas where speeding vehicles endanger lives.
We are calling on the local council and authorities to consider:
• Speed calming measures and speed bumps
• Increased road safety signage
• Greater speeding enforcement in residential roads
• Community awareness around safe driving in neighbourhoods
No family should have to experience this kind of loss.
Please support this petition in memory of Timmy and help make our roads safer for everyone in our community. 🕊️
