The Issue

Every day, ordinary people, just like you and me, sacrifice their time, family, work and education commitments to put their lives at risk for the benefit of others. They do this for free.

The majority of funding (92% in the case of the RNLI) comes from fundraising and donations.

Members of various search and rescue teams don't even get a fuel allowance for responding to a call out.  Some individuals even supply their own equipmemt

I believe that these individuals should be on a similar pay model to retained firefighters.  This comprises of an annual retainer plus an hourly rate for both training and callouts.

I am campaigning for the government to allocate funding either directly to these organisations or via the relevant local authorities.

I need 10,000 signatures for a government response and 100,000 for it to be heard in parliament.

Whilst you are home this Christmas enjoying time with friends and family, spare a thought for those who are willing to drop everything to respond to a person or persons in need.  One day, it could be you who needs their help!
