To Whom It May Concern on Riverstone MUD:

In light of the recent surge of armed robberies in Enclave Manor (May 31st) and other parts of Riverstone subdivisions, we as residents in Avalon section 14 feel that we need increased police patrol in the neighborhood.   Currently we have 5 officers divided into 3 shifts. 2 in the morning, 1 in the evening and 2 at night.  However, Riverstone is 12 square miles, 6400 houses approximately and give or take 18,000 residents. 

We would like to know how we are protected -- It might be quite difficult for these few officers to protect this large of an area. Most nights, we only have 2 officer covering the entire 12 square miles, which is 6 square miles per officer. The national standard for officers is 1-2 square miles max for officers to be effective at their job.  Therefore, we need a minimum of 12 total officers so we can have 3-4 per shift counting days off. Ideally we really need about 15-16, however we understand the constraints of the MUD budget. Only having 5 officers in our neighborhood puts us and our families in grave danger as there is no way they can get to everyone or everything on time.  As our elected officials, we hope you all understand our concerns and do the needful to protect the residents of this community.
