Riverhead High School starts at 7:15 with the buses first pickup at 6:01. That is just too early for most students. Parents are having to drive kids to school and students are not getting the rest they need. By starting school later students will work smarter, travel safer and achieve more academically.  All the current research reinforces the benefits of a later start. It's even proven to benefit the sports programs with more winning teams.  

In the words of Education Secretary Arne Duncan "It's common sense."
