It was recently announced that the Rite Aid Store in downtown Steubenville will be closed. This store is located in an inner-city area with a large population of residents who are seniors on fixed incomes or families in low-income housing. A number of workers at the many offices and the court house also rely on this store. It is the only pharmacy in the area. There is no grocery or dry goods store in the area. The nearest pharmacy and food stores are two miles away, up a steep hill that is not accessible to those who do not have transportation.
