L.V. Berkner high school has said the reason for not including the national anthem in the school pep rally's is not because of money or time issue's, not even for having "violent wording" but instead has been tossed aside simply because the school feels that it "dampens school spirit" at our school pep rally’s. How can love of country ever dampen school spirit? This is disrespectful to this great nation and antithetical to schools goals of creating active and proud citizens. Additionally we in the JROTC program still have to do a performance at this pep rally’s and are given strict rules of our performance such as it much have a rock song playing in the background. So please help me right this wrong and bring back the national anthem to the pep rally’s.
