A group of concerned Helmsley residents recently met with the National Park Authority to discuss their concerns about the Old Vicarage redevelopment; including continued access to the footpath during and after the proposed development, that the Walnut tree would be similarly preserved, that there would be no interruption to our utilities during development, that Carlton Lane and Elmslac Close would not be utilised by construction traffic or used for the deposit of building materials, that adjacent persons and properties would not be damaged or encroached upon by the proposed development and that the Authority would be liable for damages if this did occur.
Written confirmation of the Authority’s responses to these concerns was subsequently requested by a local resident who attended the meeting; but this request has just been declined by the NPA.
The Authority has now been asked for this information again and advised that they need to comply in the interests of transparency, integrity and public accountability .
