Oppose Rider University's Decision to Cut Majors, Minors, and Graduate Degrees!
272 Rider University undergraduates and graduates are going to have their major and minor degree programs taken away from them. 123 of these are freshmen and sophomores.
14 union faculty members are being fired.
This is all being done in an attempt to close a $7.6 million budget deficit faced by the university, and cutting these programs would save the university around $2 million. But at what cost to education?
The programs being cut are as follows:
Art and Art History Economics (B.A.) Italian (minor)
Advertizing French Marine Science
American Studies Geologoical Sciences Philosophy
Business Education German Piano
Web Design Organizational Leadership (graduate)
The programs that will remain only as minors rather than majors are as follows:
Sociology Business Economics Entrepreneurial Studies
We need to tell the Rider University administration and President Greg Dell'Omo that this is not okay, and that we do not agree with the closed-door manner in which this decision was arrived at. Please consider signing the petition and getting involved!
