It's January 2025 and already two bicyclists~pedestrians have lost their lives riding/walking to or from work in New Orleans.  "Between 1917 and 2021 data states that New Orleans leads the nation in bicycle deaths."  In 2024 at least five people were killed, one of them was only 13.  These deaths are unacceptable. 

Once a bicyclist~pedestrian experiences impact, immediate emergency medical assistance is critical.  We are asking all government entities that intersect with public safety to see bicycle and pedestrian deaths as a PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS.  By signing this petition, you support advocating for pedestrians and bicyclists who have been injured, maimed or lost their life.  You support mobilizing advocates in our community to prevent pedestrian and bicycle deaths.  Nex steps: a Critical Mass bike ride TBA and a deeper, more action-oriented mobilization with all agencies that intersect with public health and safety to reduce and/or eliminate these senseless deaths.  By signing this petition, you are committed to pedestrian and bicycle safety, supporting existing government measures that increase bicycle and pedestrian safety and any existing bicycle advocacy groups.  Let's work together to end these senseless deaths and increase pedestrian and bicycle safety.
