Urgent Direct Appeal to the Governor
Dear Supporter of Fred Freeman and Justice:
On July 25th, the Michigan Parole Board sent their recommendation to Gov. Snyder to reject Fred Freeman's request for clemency. We must approach the Governor directly and ask him to reject the Parole Board's recommendation and do the right thing!
The Governor's Office tells us that whether you write a letter, an email or phone, your view will be logged into a database. These views are conveyed to the Governor every day. So take your pick, but please let your view be known.

Here are the points we encourage you to make:
I am calling/writing in regard to Mr. Fred Freeman's (#189355) request for clemency, which the Parole Board has recommended against.
- Executive pardon is to provide relief when the criminal justice system fails, so it makes no sense that an executive would simply go along with the Parole Board's recommendation.
- The request for clemency is based on actual innocence and a debilitating medical condition.
- Mr. David Sanders of Proving Innocence has written you more details and requested a meeting with you to discuss the case. We implore you to see him.
Conclude by emphasizing that we believe the Governor has the political courage and wants to do the right thing.
