''...And Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.."(Mat. 6:12)

Hello my name is David like King David in the Bible and ironically my last name is Cruz, which means "cross" in English. Yea kind of like the one Christ died on for sins, (Mat. 27:46-50). Speaking of sins, I committed one sin in particular on March 20, 2010 that would change my life forever. The sin I committed was "armed robbery" ("Thou shalt not steal" Exodus 20:15) and the result of breaking the law both God's law and the state (man's ) law, I was sentenced to twenty five years imprisonment. The bible says in Proverbs 15:27, "He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house...", and that's just what happened to me. My daughter was one years old at the time and I had a baby boy on the way. I had a job, but I thought it wasn't enough to provide for a family of four, so I became greedy and paid the ultimate price. All I had to do was, "Trust in the lord with all my heart, and lean not on my own understanding; in all my ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct my paths." (Proverbs 3: 5-6). Oh yeah out of that robbery I committed I only got $200. Some way to provide for a family huh. I was a fool, my state of mind that of  a child, but now I can gladly say, "when I was a child, I spoke as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." (1 Cor. 13:11). Being imprisoned has changed me in many ways and allowed me to grow mentally, so in a way what was a curse became a blessing, because "before honor is humility" (Proverbs 15:33).  I know what I did was wrong, but greed blinded me of my wrongs for at that time, the wrong seemed right in my eyes.(" A man with an evil eye hastens after riches, and does not consider that poverty will come upon him. (" Proverbs 28:22) I didn't hurt anyone, I was just the door man, looking out for my "friend", and the weapon that was used was a BB gun. My "friend" never received any time because I didn't testify against him. So I guess you can say I'm doing his time as well as my own. I was supposed to receive only 7 years in prison, but my lawyer lied to me. He advised me if I plead guilty for the charge he would get me 7 years, because him and the judge had a bond. My charge "armed robbery" carries a life sentence even if you didn't hurt anyone during the commission of the crime. Shortly after I plead guilty I know my lawyer lied because the judge gave me 25 years in prison. I told the judge in court what my lawyer said, but the judge didn't care. I received the paperwork to prove it, so much for equality in law. Remember my kids I mentioned, my one year old daughter is now 7 years old and my son is 6 years old now. I've been gone for 6 years now and their lives has been rollercoaster, just as mines. They were In foster care for 6 months but by the grace of God, my mother was able to get them. She still goes to court for them he might get full custody soon, which would be a blessing. My daughter always ask when I'm coming home, and I always tell her soon. Now thanks to this website, I might have an opportunity to be home with my children soon by accumulating enough signatures to petition the governor to "reduce" my sentence. I know I did wrong, but 25 years for what I did is a little too much, ("people do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving . Yet when he is found, he must restore "sevenfold"; He may have to give up all the substance of his house." (Proverbs 6: 30-31). There are murders, rapists, and child molesters who received lesser time than me. I don't mean to point the finger, but this is true. Right now I'm 27 years old, still young and full of life with the whole world ahead of me. It's not to late for me right now, I can still pursue a career, and be the father my children need me t be. (" children's children are the crown of old men, and the glory of children is their father. (Proverbs 17:6).

I ask that anyone with love in their heart to help me help myself by giving me a second chance, just with your signature. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows things you have need of before you ask him.
