Governor Rick Scott needs to show impartiality in Florida's Recount
The Issue
Governor Rick Scott
On November 20, 2017, you requested one of Florida’s top seven justices to withdraw herself from a case that would determine if you or Florida’s next governor would name her replacement. You argued that you had “a reasonable basis to question her impartiality toward the governor in this proceeding” and “is reasonably in doubt that this case will not be decided fairly, impartially, and on the law alone.” based on comments she had made about the nomination process that had been caught on mic.
We agree with you 100%. If statements are made, that make it simply impossible to believe that impartiality will be shown in matters that demand justice, that official should recuse themselves from such matters in any way that can influence the outcome.
Therefore in order to assure that justice is served for the voters of Florida, you must immediately relinquish any and all control or authority over any person or agency which is responsible for the processing, handling, and/or counting of ballots from Florida's November 6th, 2018, election and also any voting equipment. There is a reasonable basis to question your impartiality towards the outcome of the election based on statements you have made to the press and you also have a direct conflict of interest in this matter. This will help erase any doubt that you may be using your position as the Governor of the State of Florida to corrupt the election process in any capacity.
